Blog post number 50 - hello from a work trip!

I did a count and realised this will be my 50th blog post, which feels like a milestone. I started my blog in March I believe, so I’ve posted on average about 2 posts a week, which considering how busy life is right now, feels like a good effort! Sincere thank you to all who read and comment, I appreciate it so much.

I’m visiting Canberra, which has real seasons and the spring flowers are in full bloom!

Im writing this from a hotel room on an interstate work trip. Ive had two nights away, and I really needed this time to be solo. (I’ve done a lot of intense parenting lately). Last night I had a black tie event which was very fun (I was seated with friends and colleagues I know). During the day I also did some work from my hotel room, and caught up with an old friend for lunch. And I had time to read and relax, which has been lovely too.

My black tie outfit- that I borrowed from my mum! (Thanks mum!)

I’ve started reading this book! It’s very good (I love Oliver Burkeman’s work). Although I’m not going to be able to resist with it a lot faster than over 4 weeks.

I head back home in a couple of hours, so it’s just a short trip. Other than the work trip, this is what has been happening:

  • We had a public holiday on Monday, and I didn’t have to fly out until the afternoon, so Al, myself and the kids headed to the public pool for a swim (it was a HOT day). Swimming is something we all love- it truly is fun for the whole family. Al and I decided we will do a weekly family swim all through the hotter months, as a fun little routine.

There were multiple pools and it wasn’t crowded at all.

  • I tried an in person Pilates class! After so many months saying I need to do yoga or Pilates, I finally did - so gold star to me. It was good, hard but good. Although I felt a bit… bored? Now I wonder if I actually want to join the gym and lift weights. So that’s what I might try next.

  • O is in almost 4 year old peak cuteness mode right now. He loves to play hide and seek but his hiding places need some work. This is his latest (he’s so pleased with himself too- thinks this is such a clever hiding spot hehe)

I would never have spotted him there 😂

And on that note I better get ready to head to the airport. Happy Wednesday all.

Wow, you look amazing in the black tie outfit!! I also really want to read that Oliver Burkeman book. I loved 4,000 Weeks and I've loved listening to him on various podcasts over the past couple of years.
